Samsung is approaching the smart glasses market from two separate directions. It has its own Galaxy Glasses in the pipeline that are expected to be released later this year.
The company is also collaborating with Qualcomm, Google, Warby Parker, and Gentle Monster on smart glasses that will be released in the near future. Samsung says that prices for the smart glasses will be at “a reasonable level.”
$299 would likely be the price floor
Speaking to reporters after Unpacked last week, Samsung Electronics Head of Extended Reality Research & Development Team Choi Jae-in said that the company will set pricing for the smart glasses at “a reasonable level.”
Choi did caution that “it should initially be positioned in the premium range,” due to the technology utilized in the glasses and the quality standards that they've been built to. Since Samsung hasn't really acknowledged Galaxy Glasses, it's likely that Choi was referred to the eyewear being built alongside the partners named above.
Samsung also dropped a hint during Unpacked which suggests that the company's rumored AR-display equipped smart glasses may be in the pipeline as well, likely for a launch in 2027.
No price range has been provided so it's unclear where the starting price might be. At any rate, we can expect them to cost at least $299 if not more, as that's what Meta is now charging for its most affordable smart glasses.
